The Manigotagan River trip crosses western Manitoba from the northern reach of Nopiming Park, to the river’s mouth at Lake Winnipeg. The length of the river is protected as a provincial park, and it’s banks are home to abundant wildlife and pristine boreal forest.

Trip Dificulty: Intermediate

The Manigotagan River trip is an intermediate level trip for paddlers who are already comfortable in a canoe and comfortable in a camp environment. The route would involve 2 days of flatwater paddling, then a 4 day descent along the Manigotagan River with whitewater canoeing in class I, II, and III rapids.

This route is 5 nights, with between 6 to 9 hours a day of paddling. All food is provided, as well as all equipment and transport from Winnipeg. Both trips leave early Friday morning, returning Wednesday eve. This trip has 2 guides, both experienced whitewater paddlers with Advanced Wilderness First Aid, as well as SwiftWater Rescue Certifications. 

Important info

1.       The waiver, and medical info form will be sent to you after booking and need to be filled out and signed to go on the trip

2.       Our trips depart from the Winnipeg Canoe Kayak Centre at 80 Churchill Drive (just across from Churchill High School). There is street parking available in front of the centre.

3.       We will meet at the centre at 7:00am Friday morning, aiming to leave at 7:30am.

4.       We will return to Winnipeg Wednesday evening. Roughly between 7 and 9.

5.       You only need to bring what is mentioned on the packing list. Anything else is provided by us. We have boats, paddles, lifejackets, gear, food, tents, sleeping bags/mats, and a passenger van to transport you from Winnipeg to Nopiming Park

6.       We are outdoors for our entire trip. We camp in tents and spend our days on the water and around the campsites. Be prepared for rain, sun, bugs, and hot and cold weather. Sunscreen, bug-spray, rain-jackets, and 1 or 2 warm sweaters are recommended depending on forecast (check packing list below)

4.       Minors must be accompanied by an adult

5.       Respect the environment. We carry out all our garbage, make sure you dispose of everything properly while on the trip
